The Sacramento Bird Alliance (aka Sacramento Audubon Society) is a volunteer run organization. Through extensive educational programs, ongoing community outreach, land stewardship, and scientific-based conservation efforts, our volunteers seek to effect positive change in our community and work towards preserving our region’s biodiversity for future generations. We offer volunteer-led birding field trips every month to suit a variety of birders and birding abilities. All are welcome regardless of ethnicity, gender identity, sexual preference, mobility or sensory needs, or neurodiversity.

Our Location
The Sacramento region is a birder’s paradise situated along the Pacific Flyway, a north-south bird migration route extending from Arctic tundra to South American wetlands. With the Sierra Nevada Mountain range and its foothills to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta to the south, and the Sacramento, American, and Cosumnes Rivers coursing through greater Sacramento, it is no surprise that over 290 bird species can be found here.
