The River City Waterway Alliance is committed to cleaning,restoring, and protecting sacramento area waterways

River City Waterway Alliance (RCWA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established as an all-volunteer group on January 13, 2023. RCWA is dedicated to cleaning, restoring, and protecting the imperiled waterways of the Sacramento region, adjacent floodplains, and riparian habitats.

RCWA works in partnership with public agencies, levee districts, businesses, and community groups, to raise awareness about ecological damage to our waterways, attract volunteers to restore these areas, and advocate for policies that improve the long- term ecological health and sustainability of our critically important, sensitive riparian corridors.

OUR PRESENCE

RCWA maintains an active social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok) which includes videos/images of our cleanup events, shares upcoming events, educates others about the dire condition of Sacramento waterways, and stresses the urgent need to take action

Cleanup events

RCWA hosts 4-5 waterway cleanups every week to remove inorganic pollution and invasive vegetation, averaging over 3,500 lbs of pollution removed per event.

Advocacy

RCWA consistently urges our political leaders and governmental agencies to assist with the protection of sensitive waterways and adjacent riparian habitats.

Outreach

RCWA connects with the community on social media and at local events through outreach, education and visual presentations.
