Be a voice for The American River - vote NO 0n Prop 45
October 23, 2026
Dear Friends of Sailor Bar
During this afternoon's American River Parkway Coalition meeting, I was asked by our partners in the Coalition to please share the importance with the FOSB about voting NO to prop 45. Prop 45 greatly impacts the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Here is the information provided by our friends at River City Waterway Alliance. (RCWA has cleaned up over 4 million lbs. of thrash from our rivers and creeks).
Protect California’s Waterways: Vote NO on Proposition 45
California’s waterways, wildlife, and communities depend on strong environmental review. This November, Proposition 45 could change how major development projects are reviewed—and how much opportunity the public has to weigh in.

As an environmental nonprofit dedicated to cleaning, restoring, and protecting the imperiled waterways of the Sacramento region, River City Waterway Alliance encourages our community to learn about Proposition 45 and the concerns raised by environmental advocates.
Why Proposition 45 matters
Proposition 45 would change California’s environmental review process under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for certain projects, including water infrastructure, transportation, housing, clean energy, and other designated developments. It would establish tighter deadlines for environmental reviews and legal challenges, limit consideration of project alternatives, and change how courts review environmental challenges. These changes could reduce opportunities to identify and address environmental impacts before projects move forward.
For communities working to protect clean water, healthy watersheds, air quality, and wildlife habitat, these changes deserve serious consideration.
Watch the new TV commercial: The Prop 45–data center connection
The campaign opposing Proposition 45 has released a new television commercial highlighting its concerns about the connection between Prop 45 and data center development.
▶ Watch and share the commercial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFI3EaWfnGgThe commercial will air in major media markets, but you can watch it on YouTube anytime. The campaign’s new ad was also highlighted in Politico’s California Playbook on October 16.
Three ways you can help:
-
Watch the ad and learn about the campaign’s concerns.
-
Share the commercial with friends, family, and your networks.
-
Post it on social media to help more Californians understand what is at stake.
Learn more about the measure through the CalMatters 2026 Voter Guide and review the official California voter information guide for the measure’s provisions and arguments on both sides.
Our waterways need a strong public voice. Environmental review and meaningful community participation help ensure that development decisions account for impacts on our rivers, creeks, wetlands, wildlife, and the people who depend on them.
Please take a moment to watch the commercial and share it with your networks.
Thank you for standing with River City Waterway Alliance to protect the waterways and natural resources that make our region special.
With appreciation,
River City Waterway Alliance (RCWA)
